A leading global logistics service provider and the largest provider of rail cargo transport in Germany and Europe.
The customer needed to establish connections among various on-board assets and systems, each manufactured by different companies, utilising a specific communication protocol known as “MVB” (Multi-function Vehicle Bus). Their objective was to create and efficiently manage digital replicas, or “twins”, of these on-board assets for edge-to-cloud analytics. Additionally, they required assurance that all computing systems used within these trains were certified for safe operation on railway networks.
Eurotech offered a robust and railway-certified edge gateway solution designed to efficiently handle data logging in a widely dispersed environment, much like managing train cars across vast railway networks. To simplify the process, we incorporated the IoT Edge Framework ESF (Everyware Software Framework), which included ready-to-use protocol libraries for effortless MVB data collection and no-code/low-code edge data processing. In addition, our solution ensured a smooth and uncomplicated connection to the cloud, making it easy to manage data and monitor devices.
Eurotech’s solution enabled this customer to create a complete and efficient system, including immediate digital duplicates of their assets and the capability to remotely monitor a large number of locomotives.
Our vendor-agnostic approach, combined with the ability to leverage open-source platforms, facilitated the integration assets and systems from various manufacturers into a unified, streamlined solution. This method not only simplified the management of their diverse equipment but also enhanced their overall operational efficiency and flexibility.
