Transportation operators require reliable, real-time data to match capacity with demand while keeping systems secure and easy to manage. Many existing passenger counting technologies rely on multiple, uncoordinated components that complicate integration, limit scalability, and deliver inconsistent accuracy.

 

The challenge was to design a unified solution capable of delivering precise passenger counts under varying lighting and motion conditions, with straightforward installation and compliance with railway and automotive standards.

Solution

 

Eurotech delivered a fully integrated Automated Passenger Counting (APC) architecture based on its DynaPCN 10-30 smart sensors and BoltGATE 20-31 edge gateway. The DynaPCN sensors use Time-of-Flight 3D vision to identify passengers and movement direction with high precision, processing data locally to ensure accuracy and reliability.

 

Through the Everyware Software Framework (ESF), the BoltGATE 20-31 aggregates and manages sensor data, while secure connectivity to the Everyware Cloud (EC) allows operators to visualize and analyze passenger flow in real time. This architecture replaces fragmented systems with a single, interoperable framework — reducing complexity, improving resilience, and enabling seamless scalability across entire fleets.

 

Results

 

The solution delivered exceptional counting accuracy and operational stability in real-world tests. It proved capable of scaling from a single vehicle to full fleet deployment without additional infrastructure or integration effort.
