Organizational Details
• Department: Engineering
• Section: Board design
• Reports to: Lead Hardware Design Engineer
• Supervises: None


Functional Details:
• Design standard and custom board and system level products from constructing the initial specification through to releasing a completed product
• To undertake the responsibilities of applying the Eurotech Product Life Cycle to a product development, handling all aspects of the life cycle from concept/feasibility through to production release
• To maintain thorough engineering files and notes of all projects and work carried out in a manner that can easily be interpreted by other engineering staff
• To provide support to the Sales team when necessary to ensure specifications meet customer requirements and to assist in the resolution of customer issues
• To assist in the development of technical documentation for the product


Other Functions:
• Identify quality issues and initiate corrective actions
• Ensure new product training is provided to the Sales team and other members of staff as required
• Design and perform certification testing to ensure product compliance with the latest EMC, radio, environmental and safety requirements
• Assist the Software and Systems engineering teams to create complete product solutions
• Liaise with the Marketing team in the production of marketing literature
• Liaise and give support to other internal departments such as purchasing, technical support and test as necessary
• Liaise and provide support directly to customers as required
• Deliver a completed design to agreed timescales
• To observe at all times the working practises and procedures in the Eurotech Business Manual and highlight changes that could be implemented to ensure a continuous process of quality improvement
• Awareness of all Health & Safety and Fire Safety procedures relating to the areas of responsibility


Preferred Qualifications:
• Degree level qualification in an electronic design related subject
• Have sufficient experience to demonstrate the required level of capability in each of the key competence areas above


Preferred Experience & Skills Required:
• Be able to demonstrate a high level of accuracy with an eye for detail
• Proven report writing skills
• High degree of numeracy
• Knowledge of programmable logic devices (CPLD and FPGA) both hardware implementation and programming.
• Experience of programming (C,C++, Linux/Unix, Visual C++, and Visual Basic)
• Familiarity with standard PC environments, including BIOS, DOS, Windows and Linux
• PC literate, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Cadence ORCAD/Allegro or similar design tool
• Excellent interpersonal skills, communicating well at all levels
• Ability to work effectively under pressure to tight deadlines
• High degree of initiative - able to operate productively alone and as part of a team
• Experience of working within a strict ISO9001 quality standard environment
• Good housekeeping skills – maintain a well organised and neat & tidy working area
• A full clean driving licence

Comments:
Cambridge based with travel to suppliers and sub-contractors in the UK and oversears as required.
