PC/104 - PC/104 plus - CompactPCI
What's PC/104
The PC/104 is the industry accepted Embedded PC standard.
Born in 1991 the PC/104 standard defines a PC module in
the dimensions of 3,6" x 3,8". Thin modules are intended
to be used as macro components and combined with the
applications specific customers' Carrier board thet holds
the modules. The PC/104 modules are small, rugged,
modular, expandable on stach and are the ideal solution
for any kind of embedded system.
PC/104 plus
With the advent of Intel Pentium processor in
PC/104-based embedded PCs, the old standard bus impeded
the ability to take full advantage of the processor's
processing power. So a new standard board was developed
to support the characteristics of the processor. The
PC/104-plus retains all of the key attributes of the
PC/104 architecture and is usable with standard PCI/104
modules on the same stack. It has virtually the same
specifications as the PC/104, except for the presence of
the PCI bus connector.
