Eurotech made today a 1 million Euro agreement with the French Institute CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) for the supply of an ApeNEXT supercomputer. The order is to be confirmed within a few days.
The supercomputer will be supplied within the year 2006 and installed in Rome, at the seat of INFN (Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics), thus increasing the computational power of that scientific centre. The supercomputer will be used by the Physics Department of the University of Paris Sud (Orsay) and by CNRS through the grid of INFN.
Thanks to this agreement, Eurotech confirms its European leadership in the field of supercomputers for subatomic physics. Says Roberto Siagri, president of Eurotech: "We are proud to put our technology at the service of the French scientific community".
