Job Description:
The role of the Technical Sales Engineer is to provide technical assistance to other sales staff in both pre and post sales and act as a link between Eurotech sales and engineering teams. You will be the technical expert on Eurotech?s embedded product portfolio and assist in developing solution concepts which meet client?s requirements, describing and costing these to support the sales team in presentation of a proposal and, in certain cases, to assemble a working proof of concept, or technology demonstrator, to show the capability of Eurotech?s equipment and services in the clients intended application. You will directly support the sales team/client with hardware selection, advice on configuration options, system setup and demonstration, and custom solutions as required. You will also provide technical support and assistance to customer engineering teams through the design-in phase, increasing the speed of adoption of Eurotech products and reducing the customer?s time to market. You will establish and maintain close technical ties to the customer engineers to facilitate rapid resolution of customer issues and to also identify upgrade opportunities within existing accounts. The Technical Sales Engineer will be able to influence decision makers by establishing themselves and Eurotech as a trusted partner to the client organisation.


Main Responsibilities:
? Account Management ? development of customer relations, identifying key customers and ensuring they receive premium service and support that is relevant to their function within the decision chain
? Project Management ? create and drive detailed project plans in line with customer expectations, managing risk and dependencies, deliveries and external inputs
? Serve as a technical consultant to potential and existing customers, qualifying requirements and offering guidance as to the best solution
? Be a bridge between the Engineering and Sales Departments to provide Account Managers with advance product information and system configuration information
? Guide Account Managers at the technical stage when developing enquiries, acknowledging orders and winning new business
? When in the office, manage client meetings, e-mails and sales calls whenever the relevant Account Manager is unable to do so due to the high level of technical content
? Assist in the provision of accurate and timely cost estimation data and prepare customer proposals in support of the Account Managers
? Visit customer sites (both domestic and overseas), either alone or accompanied by another member of the sales team, and participate in technical conference calls as technical expert
? Responsibility for the identification of customer requirements, quotation management, and closure of qualified opportunities will remain with the Sales Manager, however in some instances responsibility may move to the Technical Sales Team depending upon the nature and scope of the opportunity identified, and the successful candidate will therefore need to be equally comfortable working on their own initiative and as part of a close, mutually supportive team
? Attend major industry and electronic exhibitions to promote the company, its products and services
? Write application notes and how-to documents
? When in the office, assist the sales team with day-to-day technical questions


Other Functions:
? Provide assistance with post-sales technical support when customers are at the development stage
? Plan, document and head presentations to all levels of personnel as part of the company?s proactive training programme
? Provide monthly report to include updates on key potential customers, named accounts managed, actions against main responsibilities, product and market intelligence and measurements against KPIs
? Provide colleagues and management with regular project updates in a timely manner
? Perform any other duties as reasonably directed by your Manager


Preferred Qualifications:
? Degree, or equivalent, in an Engineering subject (ideally electronics), and/or 5-10 years? experience of working within the embedded computer industry
? Ability to demonstrate capability in each of the key competence areas above
? Current full clean driving licence


Preferred Experience & Skills Required:
? An in-depth technical understanding of industrial based electronic systems, computing solutions, communication systems and M2M architectures and software solution selling
? A deep understanding of project delivery lifecycles
? Ability to manage and deliver multiple tasks
? Ability to understand customer usage requirements and suggest suitably configured design solutions to meet customer requirements
? Possess a thorough knowledge of TCP/IP networking and the internet
? An appreciation of integrating applications level software within embedded hardware and operating systems
? Ability to provide technical support and troubleshooting
? Commercial awareness ? ability to understand the business benefits and commercial realities and risks from both the Company?s and customer?s perspective.
? Ability to explain and simplify complex concepts
? Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a natural ability to work with a variety of personalities
? Excellent written and spoken English
? Relationship management is a key skill required for this post, with the need to manage relationships across all levels of the organisation
? The ability to produce and deliver professional sales proposals and sales presentations of products and solutions to technical, commercial and directorate staff within customer organisations
? Interested in pervasive and leading edge technology
? Display enthusiasm and an energetic approach to the role ? be prepared to offer innovative solutions and challenge the status quo
? Have sensitivity to customer relations, objectives and be able to meet their expectations

Comments:
Cambridge based with travel to customers, suppliers and sub-contractors, both in the UK and overseas, and Group companies as required.
